Product Review: Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel (Clear)

Some say that Megan Fox is sexy because of her compelling eyes. Some say it’s because of her luscious lips. Some give credit to plastic surgery. And still some hot-blooded male would owe it to her hot bod (... hmm... maybe ‘some’ is an understatement).

But I say it’s because of her perfectly sculpted eyebrows!

Eyebrows... What about them?

• Eyebrows frame a person’s face much like how a photo frame would... er... frame a photo! They give definition to a person’s face and draw attention to the ‘centrepieces’ of the face (eyes, nose, lips).
• Like a photo frame, while eyebrows are not the ‘centrepieces’ and points of focus, they do indicate where the objects of focus are, pretty much saying “This is the border. The picture (face) is within the border”, and can act to enhance the ‘picture’.
• Furthermore, eyebrows are key when it comes to communicating expressions.

What does the Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel do?

Remember when I said that eyebrows frame a person’s face? Well, in my opinion, frames work best when they are well defined and able to sharpen or give an ‘edge’ to the face. And this is precisely what the Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel is designed to do!

More specifically, it states that the brow gel:
- Defines brows
- Provides all day hold
- Provides conditioning

  

• It comes in a pretty simple, classy looking vial and
• is gelatinous in texture and
• works much like a normal hair gel does,
• just that this is designed specifically for brows and
• simultaneously works to condition the brows.

My experience

• Initially, I couldn’t see much difference before and after using the brow gel, probably due to the nature of my eyebrows being quite sparse and relatively neat (though somewhat moderately long), and also probably because I never really cared to bother about them before.

Eyebrows: To care or not to care?

• But as time drew on and as I started taking note of my eyebrows more while daily using the product, I began realising that my eyebrows DID look neater and more defined after using the product.
• I guess familiarising myself with my furry friends and noticing them more made me increasingly aware of changes to them, apart from the conditioning effect of the gel which seems to be getting more obvious with constant use.

About the Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel
- Does not result in stiff eyebrows

Just like hair gel, while the Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel does tidy up eyebrows by combing the strands toward the same direction and providing hold and definition, ruffling them would still mess up the brows. But just as well, as the brow gel doesn’t (and isn’t meant to) stiffen up the eyebrows and give rock-hard, stiff-looking eyebrows. Rather it acts to enhance the brows and give neater, more defined and more natural looking eyebrows.

- Subtly darkens eyebrows

Although the effect of the brow gel may not be as obvious for those with sparse, short and naturally neat eyebrows compared to those with thicker/bushier ones, the clear gel is still able to give a mild coating to each strand of the eyebrow and ever so slightly make them look darker. As for those endowed with thick, bushier/fuller eyebrows, the gel would do such a good job at tidying up the brows that the slight darkening effect of the mild coating wouldn’t matter at all.

- Really sweet smelling!

Another thing I REALLY like about this product is its really, really sweet smell! It almost smells deliciously sweet enough to eat :P I hope it doesn’t have the same effect as glue, because I could really get used to it :D

How to use?
Instructions according to Supermodel-Secrets:

My demonstration below is without the use of any other products (eyebrow liner, eyebrow pencil) as I want to show the real and raw effect of the Ardell Brow Sculpting Gel.

Step 1: Brush the tip of the applicator along the eyebrows for more application of the gel, as the tip seems to pick up more gel than the bristles.

Step 2: Then, holding the applicator parallel to the face, brush and comb the entire eyebrows outwards so that the strands are all positioned towards the same direction.
