Hunters & Collectors @ The School, Jaya One

by Cynthia Lee

Going to the weekend bazaar is becoming of a luxury event for me.
Just as I barely have time for anything in life except to get work done, I was determined to not miss this round of Markets @ Jaya One. Also because I have to pick up something from Wei Ni that would require me to drop by, LOL!!

No trips will be complete without some haul yo!

Welcome to Markets @ Jaya One :)

Perhaps it's the space now which is huge in comparison to small pavements when I used to go to the one held outdoors, Markets @ The School, Jaya One is sure to let you whisk your way with no sweat yo! Yup, held indoor and in a fully air-conditioned space, take your time and stroll on!

Here's some pictures for the day!

Tried the famous Sangkaya coconut flavoured ice cream that everyone have been talking about. Well, it's just ice cream ;)

While the indoors are reserved for everything else that one can sell, there is a row of stalls outside that serves everything else that you can consume!

The freshly baked cupcakes!

This! I just had to show you. The cutest macarons I have ever stumbled upon.
Edible form of arts by The Tiny Temptress

Too cute! How to eat such cute lil' artistic bake?

More food vans offering a variety of delicacies from spaghettis to sandwiches and juices

More and more vendors are now paying attention to creative display of product :)

Bargains everywhere!

That new plus size store in town : PLUSIFY

I had to pass this booth twice because I am so amazed with these beautiful glass necklace by SHELLBIJOU
Check out that pegasus necklace! Shop here : Shelbijou Etsy

All the varieties of accessories up for sales at every corner :)

Fashion aside, the bazaar this time is a collaboration between the people form Markets and Hunters & Collectors Fair, if I did not interpret wrongly. Hence ths time around I spotted some very interesting booth featuring some very young and talented artistes.

Some of the arts on sales

"To Mama" is dedicated to all mum's and their signature 'acts' :)

These artwork by ENGSHENC is my fave! Just look at how intricate these artworks are. And each of the illustrations bears some very deep meaning to it.

Beneath by Ryn too is another of my favourite piece. Th one thing that pique my interest was the handmade wall plaque that comes with almost 3D effect.

I purchased the one with the caption 'WISH'. I think in everyone of us, we always have that 'Wish' beneath us, waiting to be fulfilled ;)

Check out Markets' Facebook page for more updates on coming bazaars so you won't miss them :)

Bazaar: Fun Day out at #ChurpOut2013

By Wei Ni (Guest Blogger)

On a fine, not particularly sunny Saturday morning, I packed up all my stuff & brought it to ChurpOut2013 at Setia City Park, Setia Alam in Shah Alam! Phew! A tad further than I would normally go for bazaars, but as I have never been there before & it looked pretty well organised I decided to give it a go! :)

Beanbags all around for everyone to flop on!
That's a reverse bungee in the back, and they were giving it out for FREE! Happy to say I managed to give it a go, despite being one of the last few of the day! :)

I arrived there bright and early in the morning, finally finished setting up just before 11am and managed to relax a little before the crowd arrived.

Check out my first Instavideo I made in the morning before it got busy! :)
Totally kicked off my shoes & put them out to sun as they were soggy from the morning. Went barefoot most of the day!
I'm on Instagram, so follow me @peepboutique if you haven't already!

My humble little booth space. :) All those lucky ones who came managed to grab their favourite pieces at prices as low as RM10! :)

They not only had online fashion retailers setting up stalls, there were also stalls set up by your favourite fashion bloggers! Fashionistas such as Audrey from FourFeetNine, Cheeserland, BoboStephanie & many others were there to sell you all their pre-loved/practically-brand-new clothes!

Turned out to be a pretty beautiful Saturday morning! :)

Some of the food stalls that were there included Tedboy Bakery (tasty, wholesome buns!), Homemade Beverage (much needed ice-cold sweet somethin'!), Niko Niko (yum yum onigiri!) & KyoChon (super tasty Korean fried chicken!).

There were also appearances by famous local Youtubers. Two of which are seen here with my sister Lulu! :)
Reuben Kang of JinnyboyTV. | Dan Khoo from DanKhoo Productions.

Giant bubbles everywhere for everyone to play with!

There were an assortments of games, free kite flying, free giant bubbles playing & all sorts of fun free stuff! It really was a great outdoors, relaxed Saturday event! Fun, food, shopping & adrenaline! What more could you ask for! :)

They were even giving out free comic drawings of you to be made into square little figurines! :)

For all you adrenaline junkies, they were giving out free reverse bungee rides! Later in the afternoon, when the rain had stopped, ChurpOut actually got quite a few of their Alphas there to embrace the Reverse Bungee! Some notable names were, Linora Low (who was the last to go & the most terrified! Who also happened to be the wonderful host that day!), Chelsia Ng (this lightweight kicked off her hand-drawn Star Wars sneakers & did a somersault!), Jeremy Teo, Dennis Yin, Redmummy, Aida Sue, Reuben Kang & Dan Khoo (the last 2 we have videos of! Check it out below!)

Here we have of Reuben who insisted on keeping his hat on & holding on to his phone!

Dan Khoo just being a total Khool Khat about it. ;)

It was most definitely a fun-filled activity though! Would have been much better had there not been rain, but oh well... Guess they'll have to bring in more 'bomohs' next time to ward off the rain. ;)

Managed to snag a few bags of FREE fried chicken from KyoChon as they were giving them out towards the end of the day! Whooopppeeee! More freebies! :)

For those who registered for the goodie bag, there were a couple of snacks from Mamee & Mister Potato as well as discount vouchers from the likes of McDonalds, The Strip, StreetFashionKL.com & a couple of others. :)

And finally at 8pm, we closed up shop and called it a day! :)
Goodnight & goodbye Peeps! :)

We look forward to seeing you at the next ChurpOut! :)

Till next time,
Wei Ni out! ;)

Happy Shopping!

Pipit, pipit! Not a bird call, but a shopping call!

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

The Zakka concept has been around for a while now, but it is little known to the majority of the online shopping community. It has a small-community, artsy vibe to it - much more familiar to those who appreciate the finer yet ordinary things in our daily life. Out of curiosity about "zakka', I went to see what Wkipedia entry had been written about it:
Zakka has also been described as "the art of seeing the savvy in the ordinary and mundane". The zakka boom could be recognized as merely another in a series of consumer fads, but it also touches issues of self-expression and spirituality. "Cute, corny and kitschy is not enough. To qualify as a zakka, a product must be attractive, sensitive, and laden with subtext."
So it is the ordinary yet expressive and attractive. And Pipit Zakka Store just fits the bill. Ordinary shop located in the Cheras neighbourhood and almost unrecognisable from outside. Once you have 'parked' your shoes and make your way into this humble lil store, it will probably an experience unlike anything else.

Fascinating shoe parking area =D

The lobby area is a breath of vintage art
And yes, you are allowed to be creative with their glass panel. Start doodling!

As a creative platform that assists local and budding creative artisans in building up their products and introducing it to the retail market, Pipit houses a wide range of handmade produces. They also organise art bazaars, or termed as Little Markets, to their definition.

This March Little Market also brings together a Notebook exhibition, where all these talented notebook makers proudly showcase their super extravagant handmade notebook that exudes nothing short of ooh-ahhs from visitors.

Yes! All of the above are notebooks with elaborate front covers.

For every Saturday throughout March, Pipit will be hosting a Little Market, where you can expect to have a host of artistic vendors, vintage items, independent artists, jewellery makers and many more, tucked in this cosy lil zakka store.

the simplest form of set-up - on the floor! =D

Vintage cameras for sale!

A believer of imperfection, Lil Unique delivers to you some pretty quirky handsewn tees

A selection of canvas arts from WellHued

The Story of Ah Hua is based on a self created character by the artist, Eva Liew.
Now this is an interesting passion I must say! There is a story book about Ah Hua
with lots of illustration of the many faces of Ah Ha and her friends.
Then there's also merchandise revolving around Ah Hua and he rmany facets of life.
Definitely worth of a support. Like Ah Hua Workshop in Facebook now!

Next to Ah Hua is another character, Cora by another independant artist, Kin.
I think I should term this Cora by Kin =D
When I spotted that yoga woman postcard,
I just cannot resist that almost size 12 woman in various yoga poses!
Reminds me of someone - me!

For you amateur out there that always wonder what is crafting all about
and want to start with something pre-guided, Bubuwa has lots of DIY kits
to make simple items like felt pouches for phone, key and coin pouches and the likes.
And if you are semi-pro, you can also ge tthe DIY kit to make dolls!
Check out their extensive range of felt DIY kits in their facebook page: BUBUWA

Pretty posters but I can't remmeber the vendor's name.
Tinypinc, of course, our favourite clay maker!

This is another to scream for skills that not everyone can achieve -
I think it's called felting or something where you have to prick a ball of felt
and make it into your desired shape and size.
These cute dolls from Little Poupees are created with that pricks of needle indeed!

Besides the interesting stuff by each vendors, there is also equally interesting stuff available for sales in Pipit Store.

So yeah, if you don't have the skills, but still appreciate these cute lil trinkets that speaks a 1000 words with the intricacy that entails it, let's support these local talents and go home with something that is very dear to your heart, or perhaps cutesy gifts for friends in mind ;)

My loot from the Little Market!
Lots of tiny clay stuff for my Monster High Dolls from TinyPinc
Yoga Lady post card from Cora by Kin, pegs with quotes card from WellHued
and a Totoro bookmark ;)

Check out the Pipt Zakka Store Facebook page here and get updates on their events.
There is still another one more week (30th March 2013) if you want to catch a glimpse
of interesting vendors that will be showcasing their products.

We're loving

Happy Shopping!
