where another article seems to have slipped in the middle, lol!

Anyway, I feel so happy and grateful! :)

Thank you, Fly FM!

Your Shopping Kaki would like to thank Ben from the Pagi Show
on Fly FM for the plug this morning!

A lovely Monday morning surprise! :D

Unfortunately, I totally missed it and wish I could hear it (but I can't!),
but thank you so much to Cecilia and VainPot for filling me in on what I missed! :P

Here's what they said (and yes, I feel like a detective piecing bits together, lol!):
"It was 7plus in the morning. The DJ said that there'a a blog named yourshoppingkaki which is written by a 21 yrs old blogger named Pung Sha-Lene. Hehe.. Told the listeners how awesome the blog is and has everything about online shopping under one site.. I was so excited and happy for you! Keep on the good work!!" -Cecilia

"Hey Sha-Lene, I heard Ben of Fly FM mention YOUR SHOPPING KAKI this morning, almost did not believe my ears! It was about 7.15 ish i think. I remember he mention your FULL name, age, then your blog address. Then gave a little description of YSK! And mentioning you are a malaysian, something like malaysia boleh! Hehehe.. Asking the listeners to visit your site :)" -VainPot

Water Cooler Stories: Security Breach?

You've probably heard or read about this incident by now, if you're an active member of the online shopping community. Well, I didn't post this up earlier (having received this email on Sunday) because I couldn't verify if it was true.

The thing is, I still can't verify if this is true - but it seems like Valerie's left a message on this blog's chatbox with the same panicked note as well - so I guess I should post this up just in case. Anywho, here goes Valerie's e-mail to all the reviewers:
"dear reviewers,
i'm so sorry to disturb but i really desperately need your help.
there has been this girl which hacked into my blogshops, my facebook and my own personal blog, even my msn.
you can see it from Pastel Stripes & Midnight Carnivale
she claims that the sites have been sold but IT HAS NOT.
please please please help me out by posting on your blog, where i know there's lots of ppl reading, that
ANY MAILS, ANY REPLIES COMING FROM THAT SITE, IS NOT FROM ME.
PLEASE HELP ME. :(
i just found out about this today and am trying my best to settle this over at my end.
also, i would appreciate a forward of mails to all blogshop owners regarding this matter.
we're all in this circle of blogosphere together.
i will in return help out if anyone here had any problems like this.
so, please, help me out dear blogshop owners and reviewers. :(
i've lost all contacts, all customers details as well.
i've created a blog regarding this matter here: *Click*
everyone can read the whole story there.
thank you and sorry for everything.

-val from MC and PS-"
Sent from: myhackedaccounts2000@gmail.com
And to everyone out there - I think the most important thing to take from this is to be really careful about your Internet security. I reckon poor Valerie's ordeal isn't a result of hacking, but of someone guessing her password(s).

A final note - I have not received any word from Valerie that she has set up a new blogshop - so until then, be careful where you purchase your items, ladies. :)

Happy Shopping!

Water Cooler Stories: The Blogger Behind... This Blog!

Good morning, sunshine! :)

I do love doing these Water Cooler Stories. This time, let's break the monotony with 8 fun facts about this blog and the blogger behind it, shall we? :D These are all questions that some of this blog's readers have asked me in the past, hehe, so these are like YSK's FAQ!

1. How do you decide what to review? There are so many things out there!
First, it has to suit that week's theme. :D Most of the time, I review things that I think my readers will like, are looking for, or might find useful. Price is also very important. Other times, I just review things that I like - and I would buy. :D However, I don't feel the need to please every single person who visits this blog - different people have different tastes, and what you wrinkle your nose at could be the same thing the next girl squeals in delight at. ;) My personal style is influenced by my own fashion idols:

Blake Lively | Lindsay Lohan | Keira Knightley

2.
One of the questions I get asked the most is: "Why 8 items?"
As some of you may have noticed, all the weekly reviews on this blog is built around the number "8". :D Even this blog post revolves around the number 8. I have two reasons - one is that it's my favourite number, and the other reason is that there's an element of fun in being wildly superstitious. Hehe!

3. Hey YSK, what kind of clothes do you usually like?
I love all things colourful and floral! I think there's enough gloom and doom out there, and what you wear can really make a difference in how you feel. :D

4. How old are you? :P
I'm 21 this year. :)

5. What do you like to buy online?
Things that I can't get offline. Like vintage or vintage-inspired clothes. :D And things that I know are retailing for higher prices offline.

6. Why don't you update this blog everyday?
I'm sorry, darlings, but I don't have the time - and I don't see the need to. I prefer putting more thought into longer reviews once a week, so they appear like entertainment articles and not just blogshop updates - because you can already get your blogshop updates via the blogrolls on the sidebar. :) As well as daily updates on the vast majority of review blogs out there (there's a new one every week, I think! :P). Lastly, when I have more time and more inspiration, I space out my updates on weekdays - so that this blog can be a place for everyone to visit and relax from school/work with some light reading! :D

7. What's your favourite type of clothing?
Maxi dresses! :D You can wear them to uni, to work, for going out, fancy dinners, shopping, vacationing, whatever! ;) Different type of maxi dresses for different occassions, of course.

8. What's your favourite colour?
Yellow. :D The happiest colour of all.

Water Cooler Stories: Best Bazaar Ever!

Hello, Sunday! :)

Aching feet. Permanent shopping bag strap marks on fingers. Bliss. <3

How was your Saturday? If you attacked bazaars as enthusiastically as Your Shopping Kaki and her shopping kakis did, then Saturday would've been just... blissful! ;)

No photos from my end though. :( Maybe next time! :D

First, we went to TwoMAds Bazaar at the infamous 3K Inn Hotel. Okay, so we were a bit too early (having, to quote Dan Humphrey, "overbudgeted for travel time") - 10am, and most vendors were just setting up! Lol. We were so early that I could count how many shoppers there were.

I can't say much about the TwoMAds Bazaar, because we were only there for about an hour - then we headed over to A Shopaholic's Den's Birthday Bash Bazaar! :D

Yes, we were too excited about the goodie bags, lucky draw, discount coupons and just shopping at 100 stalls!! :)

So... again, we were too early.

Lol!

But the vendors were 98% fully set up, even though we arrived a quarter before 12pm. And it was just... wow!!! The whole space was awesome - roomy, cooling, great to shop around in (even though the rows in the middle were a little too crammed - but maybe because there were SO many shoppers! :D). The very fact that there were 100 vendors gave me shopaholic goosebumps! ;D

The Alice Wonders lucky draw with the "Mad Hatter" was cool too! I didn't win anything, but Rena did, and I'm so happy for her! She chose that red quilted Chanel-inspired bag that so many online shoppers have been going crazy over. ;)

Ancient Orchids had a chocolate fountain (marshmallows and strawberries, yummy!), BunnyNoo's mannequin crashed to the floor and made everyone think there was an earthquake (LOL! Yes, Pearl, it was that shocking! Luckily no-one, including the mannequin, was injured), Ablinc's studded shoes were drool-worthy, and plenty of gorgeous studded (and zipper!) cinchers at Jes' table!

LovelyLolitas gave out free smileyfaced earrings (yay!), PhatCulture had quirky hats that I reallyyyy loved (but didn't have the guts to buy, haha, check them out and you'll see what I mean! :D), My Clothes Affair had an arsenal of tights (from babies to plus-sized!) that sent shoppers a-gaping (I got an electric blue pair of hosiery myself! :D Loving it, thanks Weili!), I finally checked out that plaid vest I liked at ClosetCharacters (only to find that it wasn't as Serena Van Der Woodsen as I imagined - so I didn't get it, heehee), and I totally missed out a bunch of vendors (even though my friends and I were there from before-12pm until around 3pm) that I wanted to meet! Gah.

Next time kay! :)

And thanks so much to Yien Yee for organising today's awesome ASD Birthday Bash! I'm so excited for her next bazaars! :D This one was just that good!

Lastly - if anyone wants to leave comments about the bazaars (share your experience at the bazaar, or moan about how you can't believe you missed it! :P), feel free to do so below this post! :D

Water Cooler Stories: "Oh no, a postponed bazaar!"

I have good news and bad news.

Bad news first...

The much anticipated Chick It Out Bazaar at Plaza Kelana Jaya, with its panoramic view and freebies, has been postponed indefinitely! :( Veritas Lab will also no longer be a co-organiser for the event - the event management company will be taking over completely. Head over to the sites below for the latest scoop.

So that's one less bazaar to visit on the 9th May weekend, right? Which is bad news for bazaar-hoppers like yours truly! :(

This is where the good news comes in...

I've just received word from the A:Fair Weekend team that they're having bazaars at Soho KL every weekend starting 9th May! :D

Scroll up to my Events & Bazaar Announcements column to check full bazaar listings. :) See you at some of them? ;)

Water Cooler Stories

Psst... can you keep a secret?

I've added a fun little extra blogroll on the sidebar - a list of blogshops I've personally shopped at in the past! :) I haven't bought that many goodies online (like half a dozen only, lol) so I've included the blogshops I've forked money over at bazaars as well. :D

Why?

Because then I can tell you my honest opinion about the blogshops - if you were to e-mail me and ask, that is. ;) A big part about shopping is sharing, after all!

That list basically dates as far back as July 2008, because that's when I was first introduced to this beautiful world of online shopping. :)

Aaaand it's a good way for me to make a stab at controlling my online shopping impulse purchases. :P

On other news - I spent my Saturday at the Monash Music Festival a.k.a. Monash Retail Therapy Bazaar, and despite the hot hot weather and the misunderstandings that seem to have popped up between the co-organisers (Monash Student Association's subcomittee & Chics Closet), my "shopping kaki"s and I thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. :D

Shopping + Music + Good friends = Fun!

Finally - don't miss the Studded Belt Giveaway Contest tomorrow night, at exactly 10pm! Head over to this blog entry for instructions now. :) Good luck, and be excited!
