Supermodels Secrets Guide to Hot Style : Hot Huez Temporary Hair Chalk

by Cynthia Lee

Remember my dip dye once upon a time which ain't too long ago?

And this

The style of colored hair can never fade. You only need a creative stylist to do up something fun!

Ta-da!! The 'flower' on my head!
Make-up and hair-do done by LB Photography

The Moroccan look-alike flower theme seems odd to me and is pretty heavy, but everyone said it's nice :3 I guess it's pretty unique.

I have decided to bring along my colored extension from Supermodels Secrets and see if the make up and hairstylist can do anything with it. There's a plenty of colors to choose from and I picked Color 05- the greenish to turquoise green one since I have bits of green dip dye left on my own hair color.

Go ga-ga with these gorgeous extension!
Click here to check them out : Dip Dye Extension

And this is what the Rainne the make-up cum hair stylists came up with!
For someone who doesn't have a very good facial feature, like yours truly, the colorful hair does great to divert the attention to something more attention seeking - the colorful dip-dye!

Of salon, hair extension and chalks
If going to the saloon and spending above RM200 is not your option for the sake of maintaining the condition of your hair and wallet, there's more option if you are planning to have some color on your tresses! Go for the hair extension if you need to add volume to your hair. And for newbies who can only take a minimum color at any one time, why not start small with Hot Huez.

What Is It?
Hot Huez is a set of 4 colors of temporary hair chalk packaged in a very easy-to-use way. Unlike most hair chal that comes exactly like a piece if chalk, the Hot Huez hair chalk is way cleaner when using. The colored chalk is made like a compact powder form, all compacted and stored in a round enclosure.

A set of 4 comes with the following colors ; green, blue, pink and purple

The color is compacted on one end and there's a cushion applicator on the other

See the pigmented color?

This is how you use it, hold it in a closed motion and press on the hair

Just 3 simple steps!

Why Hot Huez?
This is a great kit for those of you who needed a cheap and quick fix for a change of style. It is definitely easy and way cleaner to use than a hair chalk. Unlike when using hair chalk where you have to twist your hair and brush the chalk against your hair, you only need to comb straight your hair and slide the compact container along it while pressing it firmly.
I love the outcome! A soft hue with minimal 'powdery' residue on your hair.
Once you are done for the day parading your style, simply wash off the color with shampoo.

How much?
The Hot Huez Temporary Hair Chalk with a set of 4 colors retails at RM29 from Supermodels Secrets.

Word on the shopping grapevine is...
Electric Blue is Back!
Gorgeous kimono dresses at this new blogshop - plus those tie-back tube dresses. :)
Saw their collection at the ASD Bazaar - and I think they look even more gorgeous in real life!
Fits UK6-UK14. Stretchy, baby!

And now, time for some ...
*Plus Tips for the Plus-Sized*

1. Always ask for the 2Ms: Measurements and Material.

Some material is more stretchable than others. Chiffon and satin, for example, are not stretchable at all. Don't rely on the words "Smocked Back" for promise of fit - some smocking is more elastic than others. Do ask the seller just how stretchable it is.

2. Don't limit yourself to Plus-Size Blogshops only.
Some clothes in other blogshops fit larger sizes as well! :) Especially vintage blogshops.
Check out the Vintage & Plus-Sized blogrolls on the sidebar of this website ;)

3. Cinch this warning!
If you're shopping online for belts and cinchers, be warned: Some are strictly for sizes UK10 and below. You can usually guess from the material on the elastic part - and this is where you need the seller's help to tell you if it'll stretch enough for you. :) Also, the next time you go to a bazaar, seize the chance to try on all the cinchers you can find! That way, you'll know which fits you and which don't.

4. The phrase "Free Size" has been overrated.
Always ask for the exact size range. Some sellers may say "Free Size" covers everything from UK4-UK16, while others believe that if it fits up to UK10, it's good enough to be stated as "Free Size". Even maxi dresses, which are usually the queen of Free Size, are not as Free as one would think. In my opinion: satin & cotton maxi dresses fit up to UK14, denim maxi dresses up to UK16/18, and chiffon maxi dresses depend on the cutting and inner lining.

5. And if you've bought something that doesn't fit you...
I feel your pain! Lol. Not to worry, resell the item(s) immediately on Resale Blogs like Shopping Critique's Reader Requests, Shopping Gazebo, or even on preloved blogshops like Alirey's Beautiful Garbage. :)

"8 Pieces in the New Black"

Do you recognise this man?

[Pic credits to www.theobamawave.com]

Hehe, no, this isn't a costume review (although that could be a fun review for Halloween!).

But if you know the man, you must know his wife.

And if you know his wife, you must recognise what is The New Black for 2009!

In 2008, it was electric blue ...

In 2009...

"It's yellow, Your Shopping Kaki readers!"
exclaims Michelle Obama to Jay Leno.

:D

Word on the lucky-colour grapevine is that yellow is the auspicious colour this year
- but whether you're superstitious or think feng shui is a bunch of bahooey,
there's certainly something happily fashionable about this cheerful colour!

Besides, if any Tinseltowners are fashion authority this happy new year,
it's gotta be the Gossip Girls, no? ;D

[Taylor Momsen pic credits to www.img2.timeinc.net]

[Blake Lively]

Whether its pale, sunny, loud, plain or patterned,
surely you can't deny the fact that yellow is a happy colour! :)

So today, Your Shopping Kaki reviews for you 8 gorgeous pieces she's spotted in 2009's signature colour! :D

*

"Pretty Pleats"
RM46

Pair this pleated, ruffled blouse with a pair of jeans to formalise a casual outfit,
or with a solid-coloured high-waisted skirt to brighten up a business-like outfit! ;)

With a collar cut like the gorgeous floral maxi that Blake Lively (a.k.a. Serena Van Der Woodsen) was wearing above, there's no denying that you can buy yourself a slice of chic for under RM50 too! :D

* *

"Sunshine Yellow Criss-cross dress"
RM45

Ooh-la-la! Vintage goodies galore from Sasha Vintage!

Padded at the bust for comfort and convenience, straps crossed at the back for that extra sexy zing!, and figure-hugging to show off those curves, this is one family heirloom that's not going to be on sale for long. ;)

* * *

"Zip-zap Case"
RM12

I have a yellow pencil that's stuck with me, through art classes and dissections, lab reports and exams, doodles and lecture notes.

If you too have a yellow pencil - or any other loyal stationery, haha - pamper it with one of these funky zipper cases! :D Brighten up those Monday morning lectures already!

* * * *
*amazingly affordable goodies in this blogshop -
the lowest prices I've seen on blogshops for the same clothes!*

"2 strap singlet"
RM14

For a price like that, I'll go back to the basics anyday! ;)

This simple, casual piece is bright and flattering - it's even V-necked to make anyone look slimmer. Perfect for classes, shopping, walking the dog/cat/rabbit/hamster, and everything else that isn't labelled a black-tie event!

* * * * *

"Strapless Frilled Dress"
RM38

Ahh, a lightly-tiered tube dress that comes with that candy-coloured gumball necklace absolutely free! :) A very short version of the maxi dress!

Your Shopping Kaki would recommend this dress for those who aren't too tall, because otherwise the dress may be just a tad too short to be worn on its own. :)
Do ask for measurements if you're on the fence! :)

* * * * * *

"60s Polka" skirt
RM29

Helloo, polka skirt!

Complete with an elastic waistband, a matching belt, and inner lining, wouldn't you just dance the night away in this pretty piece? ;) It's demure and classy, but at the same time young and fun!

Pair it with a white blouse and white heels like the model in the picture, and you're all set. :D

* * * * * * *

"Tube dress"
RM35

Little dresses with mini pockets are always so cute! :D
Slightly bubble-hemmed, it's also something like a babydoll - and you know what that means! :)

Camouflage!

Wear this to a buffet and there's no cause for worry - and who knows, those cute li'l pockets might even come in handy if you feel like "tapau"-ing something back! ;) Hehe!

* * * * * * * *
*Offering a YSK-Readers-Only promotion for this item reviewed!!*

"Little Miss" tote bags
RM38

If your Little Miss tees are feeling a li'l lonely, here's a Little Miss bag to keep it happy!

But wait!

Look what a sweet deal Your Shopping Kaki has managed to get for you! :)

And, as always, the password is: "Hi, I'm Your Shopping Kaki"! :D

I hope you've enjoyed this sunny review as much as I have! :)

Fashion is about having fun, and which colour is more fun than yellow, right? ;)

Dearest blogshop owners, if you are selling something in yellow and I didn't review it, feel free to leave a comment below this post so that readers who want more similar items can check out your yellow goodies too! :)

And while Your Shopping Kaki takes a break from colour-based reviews (eventhough she loves them to bits!), look forward to Thursday, 5 March!

My next review:

"I 8 Too Much Again"

Figure-flattering cover-ups galore! :D

***

And just a few days after that, comes the Blogshop of the Month feature for March! :)

Curious to know who Your Shopping Kaki has picked?

Come and find out on 8 March! :D

And until then - Happy Shopping!
Your Shopping Kaki :)
