Event Review: K Palette Workshop by Vanity Trove

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

If there is any beauty box out there that I would always recommend, that would be Vanity Trove of course! Not only did they do a great job in their troves, they also organize awesome workshops! I am never one who likes to attend any form of workshop, press launch, media invites or the sort. Even if it's for FREE! Yes, I am shy like that! =P

But for this time after much persuasion, I braved myself to attend ONE.SINGLE.WORKSHOP. Because there is this Valerie Tan of Vanity Trove who was so persistent in her persuasion that it made me felt that I owe her something! And here I am, paying back something that I owe her - by attending the K Palette workshop jointly organised by Vanity Trove Malaysia.

The workshop was held in Zender's @ Publika, a pretty nice and secluded restaurant for a small group

Self check before the workshop begins

As I was the first to arrive (kiasu!) I managed to take all the time there is to snap pictures of the products laid nicely on the table before it's being touched by any curious hands =P

Oh the 24 hours Real Lasting Eyeliner is oh-so-fine

The entire range that will be introduced during the workshop!

The Okuma concealer is perfect to conceal the eye area and to be used as a primer/base
before applying eye shadow and eyeliner.
It comes in 3 shades to suit the different tone of the Asian skin.

A bit odd to introduce the BB cream AFTER the concealer as that's not how make up application is! =P The Otema BB cream is pretty fluid compared to those BB cream I have been using. Would think that these are best for those without much skin problems and have less uneven skin tone to tame ;)

We were also given some very useful tips on how to create the perfect cute fade that is seen on most Japanese girls =D The workshop revolves very much on the eyes areas since K Palette's products comprises mainly of eyeliners of various sort.

Some pre-printed guides on how to have perfect features with cosmetic enhancement =D

Inagaki-san had a demonstration on one of the participants while the other participants on the floor, floow suit step by step. She was also kind enough to have a round of inspection to check on our self-learnt skills =D

Hands-on demo and on-the-floor tips for the participants

Here's how to achieve well defined brows!

The workshop was a lot of fun. Learning about eye liners and all other eye related make up thrills me. As they said, your eye says a thousand thing about a person. And dressing up the eyes really does make wonders to a person :)

All sorts of eyeliners to tempt you!

This is an interesting product for those with bleached hair.
Match your brow colors with the K Palette Eyebrow mascara
for a more toned down hue if you have colored your hair to shades of brown.
I forgot how much was this, but it is really a good item to keep to
alter the color of your brows to match the hair!

Do you also know that we were introduced to the current trend in Japan? The eye bag trend! This is pretty easy for people like me to achieve, as I rarely sleep! But for those who have enough of their pretty sleep but yet would still like to be in the trend of the kawaii-dom, this is something you ought to know.

The eye-bag highlighter! Haha! Apparently this is a trending style by a lot of Asian celebrities
to achieve the cutesy and innocent look. The product is not out in the market yet unfortunately ;(

Here's how the tear-tank pen looked like.
Alternatively, you just need to sleep less and smile to have prominent eye bags!

I can't resist leaving the workshop and not buying more stuff! Besides the gift box sponsored by Vanity Trove and K palette which contains K Palette's products, I snapped up more stuff since there were on promotion during the workshop period =D

The gift box with my own loots too and I have been practicing hard in drawing the perfect line yo!

Skills learnt for the day  =D

Keep a lookout on Vanity Trove for time to time for more exciting workshop at a very reasonable rate :)
But of course, while you are at Vanity Trove s site, do fill up your beauty profile and have a look at all the participating brands. You never know if you can get lucky to win something home!

This month onwards, Vanity Trove beauty box will be specially curated accordingly to your beauty profile. Yes, you now can purchase your beauty box based on your beauty needs. Contrary to the normal procedure of beauty boxes where you wait patiently for the box to arrive only to know what's in it, you can now be in control to what you can expect! Isn't that good news to those who cannot stand surprises?  And this is sure to reduce and form of disgruntle for those who may receive things they are not keen to sample on ;)

Head on to Vanity Trove and check out how to curate your own box!

Product Review: Clean and Clear Skin Finally!

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

Beauty junkies alert! There's a new gadget in town and it doesn't come with apps and no, you cannot Candy Crush with it! But you can get super clean skin with it. Which I think matters more than a smartphone in the long run. :P

Most of us have seen the awesome-looking machine in Sephora stores - now we have a more affordable alternative that accomplishes the same thing! The Olay Professional Pro-X Facial Cleanser claims to be able to cleanse your skin 6 times better than your normal hand-rubbing motion. And with a cleaner skin than normal, you are assured that when applying moisturiser, the absorption rate is higher than normal - because you now have unclogged pores and super clean skin!

The gagdet is made to be waterproof as no face cleansing can be done dry, of course =P

The soft bristle that does not harm your skin

A whirlwind of work going on there!

The set of Olay X Pro Face Cleansing set comes in 3 components: the body, the head and a complimentary Olay Pro-X Exfoliator Cream to be used during your cleaning session.

Personally I had a set of Sirius Skinsonic Face Cleansing set before getting the Olay set. The Sirius set comes with a few heads for massaging, sponging/ hydration and exfoliating. But I do find the movement of the head to be a bit awkward. Instead of the rotating movement, the Sirius set actually uses this 'kneading' movement when power is turned on (it uses battery).

The Olay Pro-X set comes only with a single brush head and used solely for face cleansing. The brush head is detachable and can be replaced anytime when it's worn out. What I like most about the Olay Pro X is the rotating brush head that comes in 2 speeds. I use the highest speed only, of course. The rotating bristle does not appear to be too harsh on the skin. And due to the soft bristles, going through corners like edges of lips and corner or nose is pretty easy.

Besides using it with the soft exfoliator provided, I also substituted that with my normal facial cleansing foam and occasionally use it to rub off dried mask. It's pretty good to use to clean off masks and the rotating brush ensures that all residue from the masks are removed! ;)

You can read more about it here:  Olay Pro X

With the consistent rotation of the brush head, it does clean better than our normal rubbing with our foamy hand. The mini bristle does help to clear off clog pores. This can be seen when I apply toner after face wash. There is almost no residue that cna be seen on the cotton pad when putting on toner. There are times when I wash based on normal routine, there tends to be faint traces of BB Cream left on the cotton pad, meaning that I didn't clean thoroughly! =P

The Olay Pro X set is going for RM149 now (normal Price: RM280) if purchased on its own.

For this coming Raya, the ever generous Supermodel's Secrets will be having a Purchase with Purchase promotion of Olay Pro X and another of it's hot selling product - the 2-in-1 ceramic iron curler. Buy both the item for less than RM200 (yes it's ONLY RM199!) and go all out and show your clearer skin and dainty hairstyle with both the products! =D

Let's Go To Scaris

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

What's fashionable, trendy and uber cute besides me?
That will definitely be something very related to me - my dolls! My Monster High dolls to be exact.
When I got to know about these dolls, it took me some time to get acquainted with it. Mainly because most of my friend thinks its scary.
But if you stare longer, and have a look at how other Monster High fans were so passionate about their dolls, you can't help but to eventually be so fascinated with them!

I started with having one of them being sponsored by Mattel. And ended with buying the rest of them to accompany my fashionable Rochelle Goyle =D

Draculaura Sweet 1600 looking like a diva!
Spectra Vondergeist have never looked any less cooler with her deep set stare.

I would label Jinafire as the protector of all evils with her Oriental moves!
And Frankie Stein wearing some of my atas jewellery from Ollie Jewellery ;)

These were my intial collection =D

If you are not familiar with the dolls, they are creatively inspired around a group of college going kids. All of them are kids of reputable parents, namely Frankenstein (Frankie Stein's dad), Dracula (Draculaura's dad) The Mummy (parents of Cleo de Nile). You can get to know more about the ghouls here : Monster High Students Profile

I have recently added a new set of accessories to my Monster High Collection - The Scaris Cafe! =D  I can't be having 8 dolls and nowhere to hang out right? =D

having a tete-a-tete under the purple umbrella

The detailings of the cafe and the accessories were gorgeous! The benches and table were made out of cobweb details and the set comes with a set of assorted snacks and drinks for the ghouls!

The Scaris Cafe retails at RM109.90 and available in Toys R Us

Here's an upclose of the vendor cart with wheels that can move! There's a coffee machine too and a pastry shelf to make it more lively. I love the contrast of black against pink for the detailing on the cart. So Scarisian!

The Scaris Cafe is an accessories under the Scaris: City of Frights Monster High Toy Collection. If you have been frequenting Toys R Us and am a fan yourself, you would know what are the collections available from time to time. The City of Frights revolves around Clawdeen Wolf who gets to join a fashion design competition in Scaris. She invited a few of her ghoul friends for the trip and during the journey, they met Skelita Calaveras and Jinafire Long. And yes, I can't resist how Jinafire was so exceptionally oriental and hails from Fanghai, that I brought her home the very first time when I saw it on the toy rack in Toys R Us Bangsar Village =D

I love them much! The vibrant colors in their makeup and dressing makes you feel like you are in a crowd of trendiest ghouls ever!

Skelita Calaveras is the daughter of Eskeletos and hails from Hexico! She is a beauty! Despite her meatless body, I personally thinks that she exudes such air of intelligence and creativity. Check out her make up!
Her colorful outfit against her jet black hair with  streaks of burnt orange made her look like an effortless beauty.
She is not anorexic by the way. She is just weird like that =P

So you may ask, why are you seeing all these dolls here in YourShoppingKaki? Well, cus I just find these dolls to be so resembling of us! Fashionable and have a great sense of dressing, spotted in the latest of ombre and dip dye hairstyle that all of us yearns for, comes with super diva make up skills that we all hope to be able to achieve and of course each one of them carries a different character that I think represent some of us girls =D

The girls under the Scaris Collection - retailing at RM79.90

Do have a visit to the Monster High Malaysia Facebook Group to check out other MH fans collections and their creative injection  to their dolls!

If you want to know more about just who are these ghouls, check out the Monster High Official site here :

All Monster High merchandise are available in all Toys R Us store in Malaysia. Now, are you tempted to get one? =D
