Product Review: False Eyelashes

Monday mornings = Small Eyes
Monday mornings = Small Eyes + False Eyelashes = Bright Eyes!

Everything that's about to be reviewed: 5 different types of falsies!

I know some of you reading this are curious about false eyelashes,
but never dared to try them - trust me, I was the same too!
I knew literally zero - zilch, nothing! - about how to wear falsies.

Ever since I started the process of doing this product review,
I've officially fallen in love with false eyelashes! :P
It's one of those things that once you've tried,
you'll never go back to living life without at least a pair of falsies in your drawer -
you can't hate them, it's as magical as make-up!

All thanks to Lemon Honey Lemon,
which is so totally the blogshop to buy falsies from! :D

But just look at how pretty falsies are, they totally enhance your eyes! :)

Kim Kardashian | Quinn Fabray from Glee

But Caucasian eyes are so different from Asian eyes like most of ours -
so I took to learning the basics from this YouTube video first! :D

For more vids, click here

All you need: a pair of false eyelashes and an eyelash glue.
You can also buy extra stuff like "eyelash helper" tools - they can be useful too!
The glue that I got is a transparent glue, which I think is better than coloured glue.
Everything you need can be bought at Lemon Honey Lemon :P
Plus they're reusable! :D You can use each pair many times!

The first pair I tried on: False eyelashes V, RM20 per box (10 pairs)

I tried this one on first because there were five pairs of the same thing -
so I didn't have to worry in case I ruined the first pair :P Hehe!
These were pretty soft, although the eyelash band was quite hard.
However, the band is really long - so you need cut off the excess parts.
One of the things I love about falsies is that you can cut and trim as you please! :)

One eye with the false eyelashes, one eye without! :)
If you can't guess which is which, then I guess I didn't put it right :(

Rhinestone false eyelashes, RM10
Whoaaaa the blue rhinestones are so funky! :D
These are insanely long and dramatic - very cool for parties methinks!
But you can't see the blue jewels unless your eyelids are lowered :P

Natural cross false eyelashes, RM10 for 3 pairs
This pair pictured above is definitely my favourite! :D
These three false eyelashes above are part of their Natural Collection,
which suits people like me best because we spend more time in shopping malls
than clubs and parties, hehe! Those would call for heavier and more dramatic lashes :)

The other two pairs of false eyelashes are as tested below:
Curvy Eyelashes RM10 for 3 pairs | Natural Curve Eyelashes RM10 for 3 pairs
Part of the magic of false eyelashes: giving an illusion of bigger eyes! :D
It sort of "opens" your eyes up with the long, perky lashes, hehe -
they're just so fun to wear. Fun to try out the different types too!

In case you're still worried, here are basic instructions:
1. Trim the false eyelashes to your desired length.
2. Wear your make-up as usual, complete with eyeliner.
3. Curl your (real) eyelashes - although this step is optional (I didn't do it).
4. Apply glue on the false eyelashes.
5. Take false eyelash and put on to your eyelid, exactly where you drew your eyeliner.
6. Adjust, press - this part is a lot easier than I expected. :)
7. Touch up your eyeliner. Apply mascara if you like.
8. Ta-dahh! You're all set! Practise makes perfect, it'll be easier the more you do it!
9. To remove, apply eye makeup remover and peel from the outer side.

Tempted?

The awesome thing is that Lemon Honey Lemon is having a promotion!
Natural collection: 3 pairs for RM10 - this makes the postage worth it :P
Anniversary sales: For selected lashes, buy the 2nd pair at 50% discount :D

This promo is valid for 2 weeks from now, so hurry ya!
Ooooh and YSK readers enjoy a 10% discount on Collection I-XIX (click that) - yay!

Product Review: Tweeze the Automatic Tweezer

Hi shopping kaki! :D

As promised in my teaser post, we'll be releasing the product reviews on
five must-have beauty products
- starting today! :)

Product: Emjoi Tweeze

In the package: Tweeze and a small toothbrush thingamajig which helps clean out the hairs :)
Two AAA batteries required, but not included.

Where to buy?
Supermodel's Secrets

What's the price?

RM49 - including Pos Laju
Under RM50 for this cool gadget, definitely a reasonable price!

Why should I hurry and buy this?
It's extremely limited! With 30 pieces already sold out, it's that popular!
10 pieces are arriving 30 April - so if you place your order now, you'll be sure to get one! :D
Supermodel's Secrets will be stocking a different kind of automatic tweezer after that,
one which is possibly better but about RM10 more expensive.

But first things first ...
What in the world is a Tweeze?

Basically, it's an automatic tweezer - instead of plucking out unwanted hair manually (lol!),
you just use Tweeze to tweeze the hairs out automatically for you :D

Common body areas the Tweeze is suited for:
face, legs, underarms, navel area and the bikini line.

For an idea of how it works, watch the made-for-TV ad for Tweeze on YouTube:

My Personal Tweeze Experience

First Impressions
First off, the packaging impressed me. I half-expected something wrapped in brown paper with "Made In China" signs stamped on the back, but this looked like a genuinely legitimate and proper product. The size is also really small, light and travel-friendly. Plus it can be used for both men and women! :D It would make a really great gift, too.

I've never bought anything electronic online before, gripped by paranoid fears like, "What if the item is a total dud and doesn't work?" - and I figured if I had worries like that, others might too. So it's great that the patient and lovely Michelle Chuah from Supermodel Secrets sent a Tweeze over for me to experiment with! :D (She also sent our Guest Blogger instant eyeshadow, bra clips and bumpits to write about, so you'll be enjoying those product reviews soon!)

I Strongly Recommend This Cautionary Step
However, there was something wrong with my Tweeze - some design was flawed in the plastic mould that held the batteries, so it took quite a few attempts before the machine "connected" with the batteries and came to life. Luckily it did work in the end - but so that you don't have to go through the panic that me (and Michelle!) went through, I would highly recommend that you ask Supermodel's Secrets to test your product (i.e. put batteries in and switch it on to make sure it can work) before posting it to you.

Although this means your package will be opened (it can always be stapled back or something), Michelle is a totally trustworthy seller - and this will save you any potential hassle of having to send the faulty item back and exchange for a new one, etc! :) It's just like how you would test out your lightbulbs in IKEA before bringing them back home.

Does Tweeze really work?
The short answer is: "Yes, it does!"
The long answer is: It doesn't work as "magically" as it is painted to be in the YouTube advertisement (duh, haha!) but it works to:
  • remove 80% of hair - you still need an old-fashioned tweezer to get rid of the remaining 20%, but that's already saved you a lot of time! :D
  • the hair really doesn't grow back for a few weeks (at least 2 weeks!)
Is Tweeze really painless?
The short answer: "Well, it's not painful!"
The long answer: It's not as painful as waxing or manual tweezing - but there is a sort of plucking sensation that can't quite be described as "pain" - it's just a "sensation". Hehe. But don't worry, it's not painful. The loud whirring sound of the Tweeze might scare you at first (it sure scared me!) but its bark is fiercer than its bite :P

It sounds too good to be true! Are there any flaws?
The thing is, this is a single-epilator (like one tweezer) instrument so logically, it is slower than more expensive, high-end multi-epilator ones. It also takes patience - or maybe practice makes perfect. :) It also works much better on smaller surface areas, e.g. underarms easier than legs.

But the Tweeze is still the best hair removal gadget!
It's much better for your skin than hair removal creams - no chemicals involved here! :) It's better than a shaver or razor because the Tweeze pulls out the hairs from the roots - over time, the hairs won't grow back at all. :D Yay!

Note
Don't use the Tweeze for too long at one session - Michelle says it can go on continuously for 20 minutes, but I think stopping it every 10 minutes is a safer bet. Call me overly cautious, but it's always better safe than sorry - but like a hair straightener, you wouldn't want to overheat your Tweeze! :) Plus you need to stop for a few seconds to clean out the hairs anyway (with the little toothbrush that comes with the Tweeze). Remove the cap and clean out both the cap and the Tweeze.

Bazaar Review: Trinkets Trail Market

Heads up, happy shoppers!

It's going to be a jam-packed week right here on Your Shopping Kaki! :D We've got at least two bazaar reviews - a total of four bazaar reviews in the cogs, actually - and product reviews lined up just for you! :)

First up, we have a review on Trinkets Trail Craft Market. I didn't know about this bazaar until I went to Subang Parade today for another bazaar (hehe yes, I accidentally wandered over to this bazaar) - but wow, there were so many unsuspecting treasures waiting to be discovered!

I figured it'd be great to give this bazaar a review, because they're there every weekend - yes, you can head over to Subang Parade on any given weekend, and they're there! :D

The bazaar was in a very neat row, albeit quite a long stretch!

Shop for trinkets and cookies in an air-conditioned mall, yum!

Paintings for sale! :D Great housewarming gifts - as affordable as RM25!

Leggings - all the types you can imagine! :D Plus muslimah headscarves :)

Studded shoes - flats, heels and wedges! And other types of shoes too, of course :P
Plus super useful and pretty compact mirrors for only RM15 :)

And now ... for the three stalls that I really wanted to highlight! :D

Jcvk-Inspire
Handmade cards for RM8 and business/name cards for only RM10 per box!
And my favourite: making your own custom button badges, 4 for RM10 only -
and they don't even have to be the same designs! Yup, 4 different photos/designs! :)

Times 2 Watch
Unique handmade straps on watches, no-one else will have the same watch strap as yours! :D
Plus cool little iron-on stickers (ironing stuff on to your clothes just sounds so cool to me!) -
and my favourite: airbrushed wallets! They're really pretty-looking! :D
Must check it out!

Chocolata Designs
Whoaaaa coolest chocolates ever! :D
Pick your own designs, custom-make them - whether for events or as gifts -
isn't that just so fun? :D Examples as photographed below!

Here's hoping this short review has piqued an interest in you! :)
I think this bazaar is a really quaint and interesting one, with lots of handmade/custom-made,
not so much on clothes - but that's why RylDesigns' bazaar is right next to it -
so you get the best of both worlds! :P

Bazaar Review: I ♥ Bazaar

I love bazaars! What kind of shopping kaki would I be if I didn't, right? :D

The Saturday morning crowds ...
The fresh new stocks waiting to be ooh-ed and ahh-ed at ...
The guessing which blogshop that girl over there bought her dress from ...
The "Oooh I didn't know that blogshop was run by guys!" revelations ...
Being able to touch, feel, try on stuff that you've been ogling online ...
There's a magic about bazaars that no shopaholic can quite get tired of!

Presenting one of the regular fixtures in the bazaar scene these days: I Bazaar by Ryl Designs!

I Bazaar, 11am-9pm @ Subang Parade!
Complete with comfy, roomy fitting rooms! :D Hurray!

I think the flyer says it all:
Clothes. Shoes. Bags. Accessories! :D

BAGS! Oh, glorious bags! :D Fresh off the cargo shipments from Bangkok!
The top row ones are from The Survival Store, the bottom row are from 2 other shops
whose names I don't remember ... sorry! :(

Sunglasses and shades of all shades (no pun intended!) for RM15. Cinchers too!
And say, isn't that the uber-popular jailbird stripe maxi dress I see? :D
This one here's a preloved piece from Cotton On Australia - in size S.
If you drop by the bazaar tomorrow (Sunday), you might still be able to snap it up!

The gracious organizers of the bazaar - RylDesigns! :D Such nice people!! :)
Get your charm bracelets and trinkets here!
A whole bead soup for you to pick and choose from.

Shoes, dresses, tops and more - all on sale! :D

There's lace in unexpected apparel now - see picture on the right! :D
Besides playing "Spot The Lace", there were so many pretty maxi dresses there!
The one on the left is only RM45, and there are even more behind it -
and the only reason they're still available (at time of photo-taking)
is because they weren't in my size. :P

SPEAKING OF MAXI DRESSES, Cute Korean Style was outdoing themselves! :P
This is soooo awesome, especially if you're new to the maxi dress!

The Kedai Kebaya - what an interesting name, and an interesting description! :D
That alone warrants two photos! The next time I go there, I'll be sure to buy one too :)

Things YSK readers might like: denim shorts or a fuschia-coloured Chanel-inspired bag! :D

Shooooooooes! Shuuuuz! How many ways can I exclaim "Shoes!" excitedly? :D
The darndest thing is that each pair comes in only one size!
Biggest is size 9. Average sizes 5-7. Go try your luck! :)

So many things, so little time! The trick to find treasures which have your name on them:
Patiently and slowly look through every single item on a rack like the above :P

More bags and dresses! :D Mostly on sale, too!
Bottom left bags are from Me Love X Vigilant, quite a nice blog for bags! :)

These accessories from Nana's Garden (top row) and Rose's Handmade Earrings
are 100% gush-worthy in every way! :D

More hilarious button badges from Eff-Bombs! :D
Plenty of graphic tees from MyFavouritees (pictured below) as well!

And there was a stall with clothes that are sooooo cheap - we're talking around RM10!

If you're looking for cheongsams, I've noticed Luvenz is quite the go-to site! :)
I've seen the same shop at The Curve's weekend street market as well as this bazaar :D
They have a retail store too, located in Pusat Dagangan NZX, PJ.

Headscarves and modest Muslim chic wear a-plenty! :D
Plus MAC and BB Cream cosmetics too!

And not forgetting stuff for the guys! :D
I don't even know what these are, but they looked like sporty stuff - so I took pix. Hehe!

On a final note - besides the awesome clothes, bags, shoes and accessories ...
why do I say I Bazaar is truly a bazaar to love? :P

Because there are so many places to sit and eat - and even an arcade and gym
to entertain the non-shopaholics you might've brought along with you! :P

Perfect much? :D
Don't forget it's in an air-conditioned mall! :) Comfy!
