Trendspotter: Aztec Sunday!

By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

Just what is this hype about Aztec prints and what inspired this aztec trends? These are some of the questions that I have in mind when I spotted these beautiful geometrical fine patterns.
The Aztec style originates from Mexico and was influenced by a long history of tribes. Traditionally, the art prints reflected the appreciation for insects, birds, fish and animals. 21st Century Aztec trends made their first appearance back in 2009 at the spring/summer catwalk show for Matthew Williamson.
Beautiful aztec prints - mostly very geometrical in character

Let's have a look at some aztec inspired fashion wear that we can find on the blogosphere:

Tube skater dress @ Clothes for Fun

Figure flaunting bodycon @ Style Thieves

Knee length skirt @ Fristellea
Aztec-printed maxi dress! @ Beeyooteefool

Sleeveless skater dress @ O'Bambi

Short and funky fitted mini skirt @ Bluey Joyce

For those who preferred some sleeves @ Bluey Joyce

Pretty display of geometri prints in pastel colors @ Oozora Tang

Ahh, the basic of all basics - leggings @ Effin Treats

Studs and aztec print shorts @ PrettyCool DIY Denim

So, what's your pick? Just cos I wanted to ensure that  I am in trend too, I searched my collection of camwhore to see if I do own anything aztec =D

Asos - Yokopop Midi Bodycon Dress
Motel Aztec Print Bodysuit
All available in Asos.com ;)

Talking about tribal prints, Rochelle Goyle too is a fan of such historical patterns ;)
