Going Ga Ga over Barbies

by Cynthia Lee

Warehouse sales!
Who doesn't go ga-ga whenever we hear that?
Warehouse sales would mean with the same amount of money you get to most probably double up your purchase quantity. Yes! A wholesome discounts!

The Mattel Warehouse Sales that happens from 27th - 29th March 2014 in The School @ Jaya One was the first warehouse sales I have stepped my foot in this year.
I heard Charles & Keith too is having their warehouse sales in SSTwo Mall in Petaling Jaya at the same time. It also includes brands like Pedro.

Anyway, I went to the one that sell dolls. Yes. Not beauty, not fashion but dolls -_-
I started to pick up on dolls when I first started my review on the Monster HIgh dolls. And now, I am ashamed to tell you that I have collected about 30 of 'em. Which is not a lot compared to a lot of hardcore fans. They are so therapeutic to look at! And almost every week after yoga class, I would drop by Toys R' Us to check out the latest edition of the Monster High.

So when I heard about  the Mattel Warehouse, I must go! Toys are not cheap nowadays by the way ;(

It started on a Thursday and I think these were the lots of parents who were so eager to barge in and grab a year worth of toys supply. Look at the crowd!
(pic credit to Warehouse Clearance)

So what do you expect to grab from the sales?

Fisher Price toys going at unbelievably low price you can never get outside. These were a hit with parents who wants to instill educational elements in the toys they get for their lil' toddlers. Totally worth it!

Barbie Dolls!
(pic credit to Warehouse Clearance)

Mariposa Barbie for RM30!

Barbie Fashionistas Series

I am not really a fan of BARBIE and I must say the Barbie dolls now don't look as good in terms of details. But you can't deny a hot Barbie when you see them draped in glittery dresses that you can only wish for! These Barbies were going for RM40 fron the first day and went down to RM20 on the last day!! So I grabbed of course, for no particular reason.
I will learn to love 'em!

Rows and rows of goodies!

Crazy markdown!

My initial objective was to grab as much Monster High Collection as possible as it's never that cheap to buy off the retail rack. There weren't any more dolls left when I went over on Friday. Only left with the accessories which is going at half the retail price.

These were going for RM50 only!

Spectra with her jamming studio going for RM100

My loots?
Day 2

Need I say more? =D

This huge unicorn with a carriage for Barbie Mariposa for RM100. Gorgeous isn't it?

Day 3

Barbie Fashionistas Series for RM35 and RM20 each =D

Don't ask. They are just too awesome!

There is still another 3 more hours if you are nearby Petaling Jaya.
Or like Warehouse Clearance at their Facebook Page so you will be notified for the next major warehouse sales!
Happy Weekend!!

The Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede - The Review

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

If there is any make up products that I would not buy as often, that would be lipstick.
I don't know who is to be blamed. The mouth - because it just doesn't have this sensational shape that oozes sexiness despite being colored with pretty hues. Or perhaps, I should blame the lipsticks- because almost none that I have tried sparsely ever work and stay long on my lips. I am after all, one who talks alot.

The Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede lipstick is one interesting lipstick I tried and wouldn't mind making this my daily must-have.

 photo IMG_8900_zps92d9e9fb.jpg

Encased in a simple clear plastic encase with no frills and thrills, it looks just like any other lipstick that promises fun colors from the lightest shades of pink to the boldest shades of red.

Lo and behold! Do not underestimate the word 'Ultimate Suede' as promised by Revlon. As someone who rarely wears lipsticks but piles up on eyeshadow mostly, I must say these have given me more option to lie low on those eyeshadow and go high profile with power lips! =D

 photo IMG_8901_zpsd0cd3a25.jpg
Clean and compact enclosure with minimal frills :)

Lipsticks names are always unpredictable! From, Bubble Gum to Blazing Fire and the likes, these range from Revlon too gives you an indication on what to expect when selecting the different shade.
For this review I have chosen Front Row - which is quite natural for an attention seeker (LOL!) and Finale - for those who wants to end everything with a bang! See? I can so connect with the names of these lipshades! It's like bearing your personality in them everytime you wear 'em on ;)

 photo IMG_8903_zps76dae38b.jpg
Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in  Front Row - a very powdery shade of  pink

 photo IMG_8905_zps0cbf2bfa.jpg
Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede in Finale - needless to say is a very deep shade of rouge

The Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede is generally a set of matte collection of lipstick. When applied on, it started off as a layer with a sheen of shine. 2 minutes upon leaving it, it actually dries up and blends in to your lip like a natural lip shade, but in funkier colors haha!
Pretty hard to describe for someone who prefers nice clothes than make up but whatever it is, I love the outcome!

The Revlon ColorStay Ultimate Suede range is concocted with Shea Butter as one of its main ingredients that contributes to the hydration and creamy factor while working itself to appear matte without creating chapped lips. Read here for its full details : Revlon Ultimate Suede Launch in Malaysia

Here's a swap of both colors that appear like any other lipsticks when applied on. That is until it sets in ;)

 photo IMG_8907_zps6ca4d6fc.jpg

As much as I don't like pink lipsticks in general as it makes one looked like they desperately trying to hide lighten the color of their not-so-nice lips, I must say I am swearing by this! Upon applying and with the slightly oily sheen, it appears just like any other lipstick. You need to wait for a couple of minutes till it sets in and you have this seamless tone as if you are born fairy like and not faking it haha!

Worry not about the color bleeding out. It just sets in like a stubborn neighbor refusing to leave the territory once it dries up.

My favourite shade have got to be Finale. It is a very fierce shade on the tube itself. With Shea Butter and Aloe as one of the main ingredients, you can see the buttery layer of smoothness when applied on, with a sheen of gloss. Once the color have sank in, it is almost seamless, as if the colors permeates form your lips! When it dires up, it literally loses the shine and appears as the given name - 'suede'. It's matte while not appearing like a heavy layer of cream plastered onto your lips. That's why I call it seamless :)

Before and After with Finale - my preferred choice of color =D

As a fan of color contrast, I would color co-ordinate my shades to bring out the contrast of whatever I am wearing. And this is my lip color whenever I have my black dresses on =D

The Revlon range of beauty products are available in all leading pharmacies and most major shopping centre   - Parkson and Metrojaya and beauty stores such as Sasa. It retails at RM36.00 each.

Do check out Revlon Malaysia Facebook to get yourself updated on their products form time to time.

One Lens a Day Makes a Happier Set of Eyes

by Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

If it wasn't for these minute little convex object, I cannot imagine how many of us here would have to play sports with four eyes and risk getting your spectacle smashed.
If it wasn't for these almost invincible convex lil' object, gorgeous eye shadow palette wouldn't be of any use if you are always with your glasses.

Contact lenses is a staple for me too. There is a lot of things that one cannot do when they are with their glasses, for example, stare straight into the customer's eyes and radiate out a big scream of 'Give me sales!' thru eye contact.

This is my first time trying out the BIOMEDICS® 1 Day Extra daily disposable lens. And I am glad to have them this month to further prove just  how convenient daily lens are.

Before this, I am using some monthly disposable lens, on the pretext that I can save some money using the same lens for one whole 30-day period. More often than not, I do sometimes wear it over 40 days, as I couldn't (or too lazy) to remember the dates to change every month. Which is not good. Over-use of the lens above their suggested period would mean that you are risking your eyes to many possible damages.

March is a month of drought. And my place is affected too :(
It's very inconvenient when you don't have clean water supply. And I don't think rationed water is anywhere near 'clean'.
Thanks to the BIOMEDICS® 1 Day Extra daily disposable lens, I can now put on clean contact lens without having to worry on washing the lens case with muddy water and having it to contaminate the lens.

Daily disposable lenses are totally so on-the-go.
You don't need much rinsing and rubbing of the lens as you wear a new pair everyday! There really isn't any residue or protein build-up that you need to rinse off ;)
You literally only need to peel the cover of the case out and slide the lens onto your finger and plonk it into your eyes =D

So, just what's this  BIOMEDICS® 1 Day Extra all about?

• Contains 55% water content
• Comfortable lens wearing for up to 11 hours
• Healthier eyes because replacing your lenses everyday regularly helps to promote good eye health
• No-hassle convenience – no need to deal with the cleaning and storage hassles of conventional contact lenses
• May be beneficial for people with allergies

What if you also have a hint of astigmatism and needing to get the right contact lens?
There's BIOMEDICS® 1 Day Extra Toric for those who suffers from astigmatism.

When placed on the human cornea, the hydrated lens acts as a corrective refracting medium to focus light

rays on the retina.

The visibility tinted BIOMEDICS® 1 Day Extra Toric soft contact lenses allow the lens to become readily visible to the wearer when not on the eye.

These  BIOMEDICS®  range of lens are products of CooperVision - a unit of the Cooper Companies Inc, one of world’s leading manufacturers of soft contact lenses. CooperVision brings a refreshing perspective on vision care with a commitment to crafting quality lenses for contact lens wearers and providing focused practitioner support.

Now you can try the CooperVision Daily Disposable lens for FREE.
Not a one day trial, but a five day kit for you try out in detail on the suitability of the lens to your lifestyle.

The Biomedics range of contact lens can be purchased off the counter from most local optical shops.

Not So Creepy After All

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

When I have gotten this edition of the Monster High, I must say I was abit reluctant to explore further as it really does seem like a starter pack meant ONLY FOR KIDS. So you must have thought that the entire range of Monster High IS FOR KIDS. Have a search online and you will be amazed at how many adults who actually crave for 'em creepy lil monster and literally stalks Toys R Us regularly to get the latest collection on the shelf.

I, am a big fan of 'em. To date, I have 21 of them, which is not a lot compared to those online fans I got to know who have 100s of these dollies!

Yes, my dolls lives in the penthouse section of my wardrobe and I take them out from time to time for some bonding session.

It took me exactly 5 months to actually look into this set and I am amazed now!
It is not only for kids, as I had assumed :3

The Create-A-Monster Color Me Creepy comes in a starter pack with dolls and add-on pack which consist of a pair of dresses in each pack. I got a Sea Monster set an add-on pack.

The reviews I see online were amazing! These monsters' limbs were made of some technology that allows their parts to change color when dipped in water of cold temperature. And once it changes colors, that's when you start being creative and start drawing! There are 2 pens provided, the cold metal tipped pen where you need to fill in wiht cold water, and the 'friction' pen, which as per what I read, is meant to create heat when rubbed on to the surface of the doll, this inverting the changed color.

The props in the kit

There is an instruction guide to lead you thru.

I tried playing with it, but got slightly bored, as I have high expectation to draw prints and patterns like an artist! =D

Soaked one of the legs into icy water. Look at how the color changes form the original blue to black slowly.

Use the friction pen to draw on the surface that just got turned black

See how the colors turn back to its original when contacted with heat.

I am not a good verbal narrator and hence didn't manage to record the process of playing with 'em ghouls. But here's a video I found that shows best what can you do with the Create-A-Monster Color Me Creepy set. It pretty up sums up all that you can do with the entire set :)

If you have lil' sisters to please, these would be a great gift set to keep them occupied attempting to draw. But this may not be too interesting a set for adult collectors like me. I like the collecting part of it and seldom break their limbs to play around. But that's the flexibility that you can get in the Create-A-Monster kit - break and join the limbs back! =D
I love details and the more elaborate the better. Hence most of the dolls in my collection either have heavy make up or elaborate dresses - the characters of divas! For the Color Me Creepy set, these dolls are kept minimalist in style so that you can explore more on the drawing parts. The accessories in the kit is awesome I must say.

Check out these intricate arm band and legs accessories!

If you are a follower of the Monster High ghouls and actively purchase them form Toys R us, it's pretty common that you get updates on their events from time to time. Here's one that happened 2 months back (yeah, way outdated post here!) where they had a movie review on the 13 Wishes movie, and in conjucntion with the launch of the 13 Wishes series of dolls.

I love their clever use of puns!

The MH cupcakes!!

Do not underestimate the power of the ghouls! They have ALOT of fans yo!

Never ever miss a chance to have a picture with their cute box-like backdrop yo!

You get to snap pictures with the human version of the ghouls I tell you!

I didn't manage to go since it was a weekday. So I sent my 'online' friend over since she absolutely love them monsters. And yes, she is another adult who does not mind sharing the passion towards these dolls just like any other 5 years old kids =P

Spot the human Cleo!

And the show is on!

Pssstt... Today, I adopted another monster into my closet. I just cannot resist!!

Introducing Viperine Gorgon, of so gorgeous!
An up-close of Viperine Gorgon :) Isn't she pretty!?

The Monster High dolls are available at all Toys R Us store, Parkson and Jusco AEON. Price starts from RM59.90 for a basic dolls.

I am a happy monsta!
