'Tis the season for... Ramadhan Sale!

By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

If you're wondering why and how am I able to infuse so many of my camwhore pictures for every online blogshop that I review or write about, that is because I shop as much as I write. In fact I shop more than I write =S

It's pretty hard to resist some great bargains in the blogosphere, especially after you've come across equally good quality items online at affordable prices as offline. It saves a lot of hassle of going to the malls. And yes, as boring as it may sound, I do not go to the malls. Mainly because I have problems locating my car in the parking area (and the rising crime rate in the carparks of malls is a little scary!).

So, we spoke to one of our favourite catalogue blogshops to see if they could have a discount for our readers - in the name of Hari Raya festive shopping, and to make up for the loss of offline shopping due to congestion and safety issues. And they said yes!

For the whole Puasa month, YSK readers will enjoy an RM5 discount for each item purchased from Agape Boutique.

Agape Boutique have been a regular blogshop that I visit whenever I need a pair of heels of the latest trend. With their continuous supply of new stocks almost every months, both pre order and ready stocks, it could almost take forever to browse and sending links to friends and start a 'Should-I-buy-this' discussion thread. They sell an even relatively huge selection of dresses too, but it's way harder for a girl to find a pair of  picture perfect heels than dresses! Hence today I shall talk about nothing buy shoes from the Agape Boutique :)

Agape Boutique has been in the blogosphere for as long as I can remember when I first got into the amazing world of online shopping 3 years ago. The online store is based on the simple shopping concepts of consumer choices, efficiency, and affordability. Once you have clicked into those album links, it's pretty time consuming as there's an endless palette of footwear and apparel to choose from, like this!

so many colors, so many choices!

Did I say ready stocks too??

Personally some of us would have encounter some bad buying experience especially if it's a Pre-order spree. I was lucky as I managed to grab all 4 pairs of heel from Agape and 2 more friends grabbed another 5 more pairs while we bump into Agape Boutique in Mofew last year in Mid Valley. And for the price we pay for, I would say it's not bad :) Definitely would continue browsing for the latest pair in trend!

Some camwhore pics of yours truly in Agape Boutique shoes to share! =D

every girl needs a pair pair of black heels to carry you from work to dates ;)

the leopard printed satin heels works well for party and work too!

Wei Ni from Peep Boutique too has a collection of camwhore shoes from Agape Boutique =D

Nude and black - the two must have color schemes for all girls
We bought the same suede heels during Mofew. It was hard to resist!!

For the bold ones - leopard high cut wedges and inspired Doc Martens boots

If you are  not familiar with what is available in Agape Boutique extensive range - both ready stocks and pre-orders, here's some of the pieces that I would go ga-ga for!

From winged wedges to colorblock heels (kinda reminds us of Greek gods)
to the cutest color combinations ever, how can you not be dazed!?

Loving those tribal/aztec printed wedges which is a current craze.
And who can resist a pair of sexy stiletto heels that elevates the wearer by an extra 5 inches!

Agape Boutique also has a range for those of you with larger shoe sizes (Shoes Sized 34-43). Not an extensive collection, but sufficient enough to pick a pair or two for any occasion. :D

For those of you who are extremely eager by now to start shopping for Raya, this is the best time to do! For every item purchased, all you readers are entitled to get a rebate of RM5 for each item!! Yes you hear me right. For each item that you purchase, you get a discount of RM5. Meaning if you buy 3 items, you save a total of RM15 for your purchase, from their already super reasonable price!

Simply pick your items' article number and insert the password "RM5 rebate from Agape" in your e-mail order to enjoy the bargain! Exclusively for all our beloved YSK readers - Selamat Berpuasa to our Muslim friends, and Selamat Shopping to everyone! :D

The tale of Beauty and the Box

By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

Once upon a time, in a land right where you are, there was a woman who was a beauty junkie. She loved trying new beauty products that were out in the market, she loved seeing what worked and what didn't and what could work even better than before. There was only one problem - she couldn't afford to keep buying full-sized bottles and products from stores just to keep trying!

One day, as she was sitting at her laptop trying to figure out how to budget her beauty cravings into her monthly expenditures, she came across the fairy godmother of beauty junkies - a monthly Beauty Box from Fabulous Finds!

This is most probably a great news to all beauty junkies out there. For those who have always have a penchant to try out new beauty products in the market and end up buying a full sized bottle because there are no miniature bottles or samples available, the BEAUTY BOX from Fabulous Finds could very well be your monthly surprise beauty haul ;)

Encased in a sleek gloss laminated hardcover box, the Beauty Box comprises of a selection of samples derived form some of the established brands over the make-up counter. It was so elegantly packed that I was a bit hesitant to tear the wrapper inside (because I think I could recycle the entire packaging for friend's gift!).

What is a Beauty Box?
This is a pretty new concept to me, and I actually got to know about it after reading about it in a beauty blog. Basically the beauty box contains an array of beauty products that ranges from beauty and cosmetics items sourced from established brands. These are mostly miniature/sample sized products that could either be a product already in the market or a new released item from a particular brand.

part of my waste-money beauty junk. I only use the perfume out of all on display =D

Why Should You Get It
Well, if you are a sworn beauty junkie, I guess it won't need much convincing for you to start subscribing now. I got my July edition and was elated as it is totally worth more than what I paid for (and I can recycle the gorgeous box =P ) With such pretty packaging and also tonnes of beauty items in it, this serves as a great gift ideas to girlfriends when you are clueless on what to get or totally have no time to go to the mall to scout for anything. Simply click in to Fabulous Finds and order a set for your girlfriends. Or if you love them much, order an annual subscription so that your girlfriend will get a monthly supply of beauty surprises for the next 12 months! Hint: If there are any guys reading this, I think you know what to do by now ;)

What Is In that Pretty Pink Box
Lots of stuff that most girls will fancy! Let me show you my July subscription of the beauty box :)

did I mention how gorgeous the packaging is? =D

the entire set (picture borrowed from FabulousFinds)

as if the packaging is not pretty enough, items comes layered with
shredded confettis for that 'oh-so-luxury' feel =D

*up-close*

How Does The Subscription Work?
Basically you get to choose to SUBSCRIBE on a monthly basis at a rate of RM35 per month or a 3/6/12 months basis depending on your budget and level of beauty addiction, of course. To subscribe would mean to buy the beauty box. A month subscription means you purchase one beauty box for the particular month you made your purchase.

After your purchase, wait patiently for the box to be delivered out at a designated date each month to all subscribers of the month. This is most probably the most exciting part, because you simply do not know what will be the beauty items of the month! Each month there will be different products included in the beauty box. If you are a beauty blogger, this is a great source of beauty junks to test out and review as you save alot from not needing to buy the original sized products for testing purposes :)

The July debut collection subscription is currently still available. However, I would suggest that you don't wait till the last day of the month to get your set as it will be in a limited quantity allocated each month and you may miss your chance. I got mine the moment it was released as I am so worried in case I missed out the great deal =D

Start visiting Fabulous Finds to find out more on your own! ;) You can also check out some reviews of the items in the box via links in FabulousFinds Facebook page!

Event Review: Tea Party @ Emcee Couture

By Cynthia (Guest Blogger)

Cupcakes, tea, lemonade, and cute little collections of dresses. Now, doesn't that sound like a shopping kaki's ideal tea party? :D Plus, there's air-conditioning at Emcee Couture's humble studio in USJ Taipan, which is perfect for the hot weather these days! We love a cosy shopping hangout, don't you?

If you have been a fan of Emcee Couture's custom made collection of dresses and did not make it to the tea party last Saturday, you missed out on some gorgeous dresses on sales for as low as 50% off their original price tags!

Held in their humble studio in USJ Taipan, visitors were greeted with a pretty spread of cupcakes, fruit tarts, scones and everything sweet! It was a very simple and humble event with the presence of some friendly vendors (Peep Boutique, Tank for 5, Supermodels' Secrets and Modish Mode House) to complement the cosy event.

Rows and rows of dresses to browse!

Seen here are some collections brought in by Tanks for 5  and Peep Boutique

It was a pretty short and simple event that started at 2pm and ended slightly after 5pm. All in all, a lovely way to spend an afternoon surrounded by cupcakes, fashion, and conversation with like-minded shopaholics. ;) And of course, as a shopping kaki myself, I couldn't resist the temptation to buy!!

Peplum Fever!

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

What's not to love about peplum? Little ruffles on the overskirt, I heart thee! With frills below the waist, what a perfect invention to cover those extra bulges without having to hold on to your breath. I especially love the peplum structure because it's perfect to create sillhoutte for shapeless figures like mine!

It's a great alternative to the basic pencil skirts that we always wear for more formal functions and to work. Let's have a look at some peplum skirts and dresses available in the blogshop-sphere today! ;)

White Circus RM57 (comes in S and M sizes)

Pretty Chase RM39.92 now.
It's on sale!

Some of my personal peplum collection - one for corporate wear at work and another for a casual evening out with the girls! ;)

Red peplum dress from Jo's Fashion House
Grey peplum dress from Doublewoot

What do you think about the peplum trend? Yay or nay?

Product Review: Hadanomy Collagen Mist

By Cynthia Lee (Guest Blogger)

Product: Hadanomy Collagen Mist

Available at: Supermodels Secrets

Price: RM49

When I was 14 years old, there weren't any BB creams. At the time, there were also no YouTube videos on how to create smoky eyes and no Lady Gaga inspired make-up tutorials. Today, most 14-year-old girls probably owns a basic set of make-up. And with the help of YouTube and many other blogs that you can Google up, it sn't hard to start young these days in learning how to dress up or acquiring make-up skills.

The thing about starting young is that, most probably you will be repeating the routine for another 50 more years of your life. People always say, cosmetics is bad for our skin, especially over the years. Well, in many situations, a lot of us, especially when you are in the working world and in the service industry, it is considered 'hazardous' to have a public display of your flaws like breakout or tired eyes and chapped lips - because you may cause potential clients to lose appetite (if you are serving food) or mood (if you are trying to promote healthy skin program when yours isn't as healthy). That is just how cruel the real world is. Sometimes..

I for instance, never step out to work without a full regime of skin care and make up. Because just between you and me, I think I look scary enough to make people lose appetite and mood =(

the working 'mask'

the 'I-sometimes-perform-too' make-up and camwhoring make-up

It doesn't do much good that our tropical climates here (along with pollution!) creates extra hazardous conditions for our skin. Problems such as enlarged pores, breakouts, uneven skin tones and pigmentation is most probably some of the common skin condition that no girls want to encounter.

With the kind of torture that I put onto my skin and also that I have started late in anti-ageing skin regime (I am 33 this year), at any time possible I try to compensate the many years I left my face without proper care by doing constant mask session at home and regular facials. Once in a while when budget is sufficient I splurge on SKII =D On a regular routine, I try to make do with anything that can maintain, if not improve, my skin elasticity (I am old, remember?) because I really don't want to look 45 when I barely touch the 35-bar yet!

One of the main ingredients in maintaining skin elasticity and it's suppleness is collagen. You can buy collagen drinks in most pharmacy. I personally have tried the Meiji Amino Collagen powder which I bought during a trip to Japan. If there are any blogshops that sell this online, leave a comment please! =D

Meiji Amino Collagen powder for consumption which is everywhere in Japan's pharmacy
but cannot find locally =(

As I am not office bound, it's pretty difficult for me to scoop a spoon of the powder to be mixed into drinks on daily basis. And I don't think I would look cool to be seen at the Starbucks' counter trying to pour a spoonful of white powder into my latte and stir vigorously. Some people are also hesitant to have it consumed as different collagen comes from different sources - algae to soy protein or fish, of which some may have allergy to.

So when I saw that Supermodel's Secrets is now selling Hadanomy Collagen Mist, which doesn't require anything to be spooned into the mouth, I instantly bought a bottle to try. =D

250ml retailing at RM49 (shipping not included)

the scary real self  and my first bottle of Collagen Mist

What is this bottle of thing?
A Japanese product, the Hadanomy Collagen Mist contains moisturizing ingredients such as hyaluronic acid, honey extract and of course the much needed micro-sized collagen particles. A whole 1000mg of those micro collagen in a bottle!

What is the texture like and how does it feel?
When sprayed on, it leaves a very pleasant mild rose scent. Totally not overpowering at all. The fine mist feels slightly sticky upon sprayed onto face. But the stickiness doesn't last.

When and how do you use it?
  • Personally, as I desperately wanted to let the collagen to seep into my skin as much as possible, I use it immediately after I wash my face with warm water. I personally believe those very few minutes after you wash your face with warm water, pores are still open and that would be the best time to get it infused with lots of collagen! After a good spray of it, I will gently slap pat on face to ensure better absorption. The patting is also a good form as massage for the face ;) Only after that, I will then proceed with moisturizer and other form of beauty products.
  • It is also said that you can apply at any time of the day for a quick hydration fix. However, I rarely do that as I have pretty good amount of make up on and it don't think it will do me much benefits. However, if you are always on the go and seldom uses make up, then yes, it will be a quick pep to the skin.
  • Then you may ask, what if you use toner? I have not mention toner in my application as I do not use toner =D I only use toner after cleaning my face from make up to remove any extra traces of dirt and make up. For my morning regime, I skipped toner, as I would like to believe the last traces of dirt have been removed the night before. Hence I immediately spray on the mist after face wash, before I proceed to moisturising. I don't think there will be an issue to use it after toner though. The patting and running of fingers on the face will  assist to ensure absorption anyway.

Does it work?
You cannot expect miracles to exert from a single application. Generally, I would say the skin does feel slightly plump (not fat kind of plump, but slightly springy) which is a good sign! It means that either your skin's elasticity is maintained or perhaps slightly revived. And of course, a quick spray of any form of mist always do good for a quick fix of moisture. But be sure not to do that when  your face is slathered with sweat under the scorching hot sun.

I am now into my second bottle and am glad to say the Hadanomy Collagen Mist will stay on my list of daily beauty routine.

comes in a 250ml bottle (the large one)
and the limited edition heart shaped bottle (while stock last)

If you think you need a boost of collagen like I do, head on to Supermodel's Secrets and read more about it here: HADANOMY COLLAGEN MIST!

Note :
I am not a dermatologist and the above comments are merely opinions derived from my experience in using the product. As I am also a person who rarely read instructions, please do go ahead to the page and read more on this ;)
