Nobody H8s Bargains Under RM50

Hi shopping kaki! :D

Did you vote earth today by switching off your lights for an hour? :) If you didn't, you can still do it eventhough Earth Hour 2010 has just went by tonight! It'll still make a difference.

Today's special review is dedicated to Earth Hour. :D Here are some dresses, tops and skirts that I totally couldn't resist sharing with you! Someone buy them already! :P Prices range from RM25 to RM49. Just click on the blogshop name directly below the photographs - don't email your orders to me! :P

From EmmyCubic RM45 (free postage)
Cosmic shoulders with a lace panel line down the front, and a scoop at the back.
Bloody delicious. Available in three different colour variations. Well-priced!
High-waisted floral skirts with pretty tea-party prints, complete with a bow!
How do you resist? They're calling out for girls sized UK6-10!

From The Survival Store RM40 | From The Survival Store RM30
It's metallic, it's got animal prints, it's got a poofy shoulder (I think!) and it's a toga.
Talk about hitting all the right spots for this season's trends! :P
Also take a looksie at its very affordable hot pink companion with the winged skirt.

From Seventh Day Sale RM49 RM43 | From Seventh Day RM48
These sweetheart necklines are making me swoon!
Tight-fitting and bustier-cut, fantastically floral -
take your pick between a bodycon skirt or a flared skater skirt!
(Edit: Ooh they just updated after I published this review, you have to check out their updates!)

From FashionStudio54 RM94
Okay so while nobody hates bargains under RM50, sometimes we gotta love the splurges! :P
I've never seen a local blogshop sell one of these contemporary Japanese kimonos before -
not kimono-inspired tops/dresses, but quite literally a modern kimono.
Gorgeous, no? Do ask for more details if you're interested - it sure is pretty!

From EmmyCubic RM40 (free postage)
Now, this isn't quite a new piece on the online scene -
but it's looking so darn good with that oversized keyhole at the back!
Plus the free postage option is such a temptress, no? ;)

From Le Mode Maison RM39
Baby's got back - and these dresses will make damn sure they notice! ;P
A little more loose-fitting than the other bow-backed dresses out there,
which means this one's a little kinder to holiday pounds and wobbly bits :D

From PhatCulture RM47
Hello, can you say "OMG" already? Why, you ask?
Because this is a two-piece ensemble, detachable 2-items-for-the-price-of-1!
Imagine the options you have with this single purchase:
Floral tank on its own, lace covering with any of your tank dresses or bodycons,
etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc I think I've made my point.

From EmmyCubic RM46 (free postage) | From EmmyCubic RM40 (free postage)
Looking at such pretty pictures makes me question myself.
Why haven't I bought one of these cosmic-shouldered or bow-backed dresses yet? :/
Don't make the same mistake as me - go buy yours today! :D

Ending the show with a bang is a bargain I haven't seen online in quite a while!
RM25-RM30 for cute little floral minidresses (for petites) or tops (for taller girls). Say what?

So what're you waiting for?
Go buy some new clothes and switch off your lights! :D
Oh and if anyone has anything similar to the reviewed items above,
feel free to leave a comment! :D

And don't worry if I haven't replied your emails yet,
I'll reply everyone at a later point in time! :)
I'm not running this site actively at the moment, like linking and stuff,
only just blogging when I feel like it. :P Have more feature ideas in mind.

Product Review: The Convertible Dress

Picture this. You've been invited to a fancy party, but you've been so caught up with work/school that you haven't had time to go shopping! Your friends have seen you in every dress that you own - what do you do, what do you do?

Now, wouldn't you wish one of your dresses could
magically
turn into a different dress? :D

If you didn't already know this, there is indeed such a dress! :) You neither need a fairy godmother nor the skills of a seamstress - all you need is ONE convertible dress and a YouTube video to teach you how to wear the dress the way you want to!

Everybody say,
"Yayyyyy!"

Here are just some of the many ways you can wear this dress:

Of course, such a chameleon-like dress usually comes with a hefty price tag - we're talking hundreds of USD. But lucky for us, Malaysian blogshop Mizu Closet has stocked up on these convertible dresses - in 3 staple shades (black, pink, purple) - and for only RM60! :D

Convertible dress from Mizu Closet RM60

Why did I buy it?

To be honest, I've heard of the wonders of the dress for about a year now - but a part of me has always wondered if this was one of those shopping "myths" (one dress can turn into more than 10? Don't pull my leg!). So I bought this because I wanted to see if it was true (and this is the lowest price in town for this, as far as I can tell :P) - and because I wanted to tell YSK readers, too! :D So today, I can assure you that based on my personal experience, this convertible dress is such an amazing investment piece for your wardrobe!

What the dress looks like, laid flat:

Elastic waistband that stretches comfortably up to 45 inches. Best fits dress sizes UK4-18.
Comfy flare skirt that falls so gracefully. Thick, relatively heavy material.
If wearing the skirt at waist-level, this would probably be a maxi dress for petites.
While I wouldn't call this 100% free size, it's suitable for any height range. :)
Even if it's too long for your liking, you can get the length altered at the tailor for a few ringgit.

Do enquire at the blogshop selling this dress for measurements if unsure! :)

What makes this dress so special? Its versatility!
Besides being a totally awesome travel buddy if you're low on luggage space, this is one of those long-term money-savers that you simply can't pass up on. :P Suitable for parties, proms, dinners, hi-tea, upper-crust brunch, showing off your sexy back in general (or your sexy front with a plunging neckline), shopping (wear it bandeau/tube style for that short & cute effect!) ... basically anything except, like, lectures. You can even wear it to work under a fitted blazer or longline button-up cardigan! :D The possibilites are endless!

Slightly different variations of the dress, but similar styles:

8 Basics that Pop!

Good evening, shopping kaki! :D

It's Monday of a new week - and some of us need some de-stressing already! ;) So here's another hiatus from my hiatus (LOL, read explanations at the end of this blog post) and this time, we've found 8 basics with a twist!

From demure white dresses with intricate back detailing, to a dress that can turn into 10 different ones, to bags that'll reflect the true fashionista you are ... and more!

Lycra & lace dress from Buttons & Biscotti RM59
Here's a simple dress that's a staple for every shopping kaki's wardrobe, the LWD (Little White Dress).
But hey, take a look at the detailing on the back! :D
Crocheted lace that's angelic to boot, in a shade that flatters every skin tone.
Be sure to wear your hair up, because the point is to show off that fine detail! ;)

Hot pink fringe bucket bag from Shop With Narnia RM66 RM25
Everyone say with me now: "CLEARANCE SALEEEEE!!"
Hot pink and disturbingly funky - tiers of pleather fringe for a price tag of RM25!
Only one question to ask: "Is it even still available?!" :P

Floral tank top from Edward Effing Cullen RM14
A first glance at this unassuming top may not invoke that involuntary gasp -
especially since there are hundreds of new clothes each day for us to ogle at,
but take a closer look at how much of a treasure this is! :)
I'd totally recommend this for anyone with that enviable UK6-8 frame,
because this little tank top will cling and flatter like nobody's business. :D
(Somemore so affordable!)

Marc by Marc Jacobs Mirror Heart bags from I Want Bags RM375 | RM550
Authentic Marc by Marc Jacobs bags, for under 1K! :D
That's quite a worthwhile designer splurge, no?
Take your pick, between a clutch-turned-evening-bag or tote bag -
I especially love the metallic, reflective surface of the bags.
This one'll be sure to Pop! and stand out anywhere!

Toga romper from Girl's Vitamin RM45
The toga thirst needs some quenching this season! ;)
What more when a powdery-white toga top is attached to a pair of cutesy shorts,
resulting in what we call The Toga Romper? :D
An effective one-piece for days when you can't figure out what to put together,
and for packing light on holidays!

Maxi dress from The Cute Closet RM55
Oh my, a black-based maxi dress with embroidered floral prints!
The colour is formal enough for evening wear,
and yet the prints are cheerful enough for the beach or parties!
Plus it's versatile - wear it as a tube or a halter. :D

Smocked tube maxi dresses from La Robe RM55
I think we've discovered the mecca of basic maxi dresses! :D
With a palette of TEN different colours to choose from,
and the option to customize the length of your dress -
maxi dress lovers can say "yay!" and hop over to this fairly new blogshop!
It's never too early to get started on your Maxi Dress Day collection! :P

This particular palette of plain-coloured maxi dresses are in this review,
because I've realised that there's no better dress to "Pop!" with
than a long, one-coloured dress and a very colourful or bright-coloured accessory :D
Handbags, hair accessories, colourful bangles, wayfarers, bedazzled flip-flops - your call!

For example:
Nicole Ritchie: black maxi, white bag | Heidi Montag: yellow maxi, lavender bag

So, knock yourselves out updating the basics in your wardrobe this month! ;)

Coming up soon:
A product review on the critically-acclaimed bestselling dress,
the one we call the "convertible dress".
A basic that will definitely make your eyes pop!
A myth or a magical investment piece?
Find out soon, exclusively on Your Shopping Kaki :D

Footnote

Your Shopping Kaki is still mainly on hiatus - uni assignments are scurrying into the "In" tray - although you're welcome to continue visiting this blog because:
  • On the sidebar, we have blogrolls made up of over 1000 blogshops, and will continue adding in new ones every few months (so, don't worry if we haven't replied your emails yet! :P)
  • We have useful information stored in older posts, especially under our FYI label
  • We have contributors who will ensure YSK is the site to visit for bazaar reviews :)
  • And if time permits, YSK will definitely try to write a few blog posts each month :D
Please note that our email inbox is still unattended - I won't be checking yourshoppingkaki@gmail.com regularly (not until hiatus is officially over, and this could be many months from now) so don't get worked up if you don't get any replies ya! :) Your emails are safely stored in that inbox, so there's no need to keep re-sending your email either :P

Just don't send your "Link Me" details as a comment, because I can't keep track of where the comments went when I'm looking for your details later. Just send an email. :)
